A recent study found that standing for long periods of time may be as bad as smoking.
While long-term sitting is associated with cancer, type 2 diabetes, and early aging, prolonged periods may not work well.

The study, published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, found that those who stand for long periods of time are more likely to have cardiovascular disease.

In a 12-year study, the researchers studied the workplace habits of about 7,000 participants in Ontario, Canada, and found that those who worked longer were more likely to develop heart disease than those who sat all day long.

“The rate of heart disease among those surveyed and spending their time standing is similar to the rate of heart disease among those who smoke daily or those who are obese,” said study author Peter Smith.

80% of tap water around the world is polluted
